MR BENN

I’ve done a good few radio interviews in the last month or so. Thanks to Sam Westerby. On the 9th I’m recording n interview with Steve Wright.

In the majority of these interviews they always talk about Mr Benn.

The plan now, with Sam’s help, to do a tour (with a few tricks) talking about the bowler hatted man.The title will be ‘Suddenly as if by Magic. The genius of Mr Benn.’

The first date penciled in is at the Unity Theatre in Liverpool.

With Steve Gerrard leaving Liverpool F.C. in the summer, Mr Benn is the obvious replacement.

  3. Hi Ray. I'm convinced that there is an untapped gap in the market for people of your calibre to tour a one-man show based on your professional reminiscences. I know Frank Williams (the vicar in Dad's Army) did this for some years. There are hundreds of smaller arts centres/venues up and down the country who would be ideal for this sort of thing. I would have thought too that your 'recognition factor' would make you an ideal club/corporate after-dinner speaker. There are agencies for these sort of things, and I can't help think that your existing agent (whoever they may be) hasn't exactly been pushing you forward enough. Your new friend Sam sounds like they should be your agent to me!!

With the warmest wishes from Cornwall, and hoping this new idea of yours takes off!

  6. ust googled and see that Mr Williams is indeed still doing it, a new tour of his is noted here http://www.inspiremagazine.org.uk/Stories/National?storyaction=view&storyid=610

You would probably end up needing a reprint of the autobiography that way!!
